 This robust tool weights almost 2 pounds with a 9" 3/4" shank which has a flat running the whole length. The flat side is placed on the tool rest to provide plenty of support and stability during hollowing operation. The swan neck design allows the tool to reach deep inside the work piece. The handle (14") is solid ash, the overall length being 23". Two interchangeable tips are provided made using M-2 high speed steel for long time cutting between sharpening. The hollowing tip is cut form a 1/4" rod about 1 1/2" long which is flattened and cutting tip formed at one end. The other tip is a 1" round scraper for finishing operation. For sharpening use of a fine diamond slip is recommened.
